We’re thrilled to invite you to a special walking tour of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) decommissioning project — a rare opportunity to see firsthand how one of California’s most complex energy sites is being safely dismantled and transformed.
Throughout this guided experience, you’ll:
• Learn about the history of SONGS — from its decades of power generation to its current transition into decommissioning.
• Hear from project experts about how spent nuclear fuel is safely managed and stored.
• See the progress of dismantlement and understand the engineering, environmental stewardship, and safety measures shaping the site’s future.
This is a 1.5-2 mile long walking tour lasting 2 hours. Please be prepared for uneven terrain and to stand/walk for the tour’s duration.
Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is a unique chance to deepen your understanding of the activity at one of Southern California’s most intriguing public works projects. We look forward to seeing you on tour!
